The Interlinx Logo
The logo is a modified Japanese family crest or “mon,” which began as a means of identification on the battlefield around the 12th century. Much like the European coat of arms, the Japanese mon later came to represent familial associations. The Koyama family crest is a stylized flower representation of the wood sorrel. This design element, favored by the warrior class, depicts a sword blade between and at the base of each petal, representing beauty, strength, bravery, and, in today’s terms, the cutting edge.
The partial hexagonal links are reminiscent of the six-sided tortoise shell which is associated with the god of the north in Japan. The links hold the flowers together, making for a visual representation of the Interlinx motto:
